quick Laps 98 is an overhead racing game for 2 players. The controls are simple and the action is raw, so grab a friend, your racing helmet and hit the track. Based around the same ideals as say Super Skid Marks or Badlands this game tries to re-live those great racing games.

Although the game looks very much like something made in someone's. spare time (which is probably true) the initial impressions of the game were good. With this comes a reasonable collection of tracks including one which has cars driving on from the side on to the track and towards you whilst you race. however its flaw is in its game play, which despite the nice look actually kills it dead.

The lack of single-player racing is the first immediate drawback. There is a small attempt to redeem this by having a fastest lap counter but actually it is not fun driving around an empty track on pretty much any game. Unfortunately if you con a friend to play then it is not much better: bouncing off corners and sides soon becomes annoying and the lack of friction in the game makes it very unrealistic, even for an arcade style game. Overall the lasting impression was one of missed opportunity. But don't. fear, just download the excellent Generally instead!
